Steps for Investigation

A good detective follows few guidelines for the investigation work to go smooth:

  • The first step is to take charge. The one who asks more questions always has the upper hand. While investigating, it is important for a detective to become dominant so that the other person does not get a chance to enquire about him.
  • Secondly, a detective should know what to ask. You can only get the right answer if you ask the right question. Moreover, direct questions can give birth to doubts in mind. So, we should try to ask indirect questions that would lead us to the same answer as the direct question.
  • They should carry a camera to record different evidence which can later be put together and can be admissible in the court of law.
  • The detectives should have an idea about different criminal cases and the investigation processes that can be required for a particular case to be solved.
  • A detective should be friendly with the tools that can help in the investigation. He must have the complete technical knowledge about the procedure of lifting evidence like fingerprints or different marks available at the scene of a crime.

It is correctly said, “Practice makes a man perfect”. It takes different experiences and cases to become an expert in any field so that they can overcome the challenges in an assured way.
